Professional Auto-ID equipment can be divided into three main product groups:
Barcode scanners are basic AutoID devices whose main task is to read data stored in linear (1D) or two-dimensional (2D, e.g. QR, Data Matrix) code and immediately send this information to the master system (WMS, ERP, POS).
Types of barcode readers:
Data collectors (portable terminals) are advanced handheld computers equipped with a professional scanning module, a powerful processor, RAM, a touch screen and an operating system, most often Android. They allow you to process and send data directly from the place where logistics operations are performed.

Marking devices are specialized label printers equipped with in-house 1D and 2D barcode generators.
Due to the printing technology, these devices are divided into two categories:

Automatic Identification refers to modern technologies dedicated to reading and collecting data automatically without entering information manually, such as barcode systems and RFID systems. Auto ID systems include barcode printers, barcode readers, barcode verifiers, data terminals, scanner modules, and smart cameras.
Automatic identification systems use scanner modules and barcode readers to read information stored in barcodes on labels. The read data are sent to a computer system where they are analyzed and compared with a database. Automatic identification systems, based on barcodes and two-dimensional codes, are highly effective and accurate, minimize human error in data entry, and are a relatively cost-effective solution.
