SpeedMate Blade automatic labelling machine – discover an economical label applicator for automatic product labelling

18 Mar 2026 - Michał Wąs

Automating product marking is now standard in manufacturing plants and logistics centres. However, many companies are looking for devices that ensure high-quality label application while keeping investment costs reasonable. One such solution is the SpeedMate Blade label applicator (automatic labelling machine) from IMA Labeling, available in our offer.

SpeedMate Blade – a wipe-on self-adhesive label applicator (automatic labelling on a conveyor)

SpeedMate Blade automatic labelling machine IMA Labeling

SpeedMate Blade is an automatic labelling machine designed to work in wipe-on applications, i.e., applying labels to products moving on a conveyor without the need to stop them.
It is a universal device developed for most standard applications where pre-printed self-adhesive labels are used.

Thanks to its simple design and the use of electric drives, the device ensures high repeatability of application and stable operation even at high production line speeds.

Technical specification of the SpeedMate Blade automatic labelling machine (wipe-on)

SpeedMate Blade label applicator

The most important technical parameters of the label applicator include:

Label application parameters (wipe-on)

  • method of application: wipe-on (contact)
  • purpose: applying labels to products moving on a conveyor
  • application accuracy: ±1 mm

Efficiency and label feed speed

maximum label feed speed: up to 70 m/min (depending on label size)

Drive system (stability and application repeatability)

  • two stepper motors:
  • one is responsible for feeding the label material
  • the other controls liner rewinding
  • the solution ensures proper material tension and prevents stretching or tearing

Supported self-adhesive labels and materials

  • self-adhesive labels on a liner (paper and film)
  • standard, pre-printed labels (paper and film)

Label material width (device versions)

  • supports two label material widths depending on the applicator version:
  • max. up to 120 mm
  • max. up to 180 mm

Labelling machine / applicator construction (line installation)

  • right-hand and left-hand versions available
  • the applying blade can be:
  • rigid – for application on flat surfaces
  • spring-loaded – adapting to the shape of the product.

Advantages of SpeedMate Blade – economical automatic product labelling

automatic labelling machine at work

The key benefits of using this device are:

  • Cost-effective investment (automatic labelling machine for standard applications)
SpeedMate Blade is one of the most economical solutions for automatic labelling in its class.
  • High label application precision
Application accuracy at the level of ±1 mm ensures high repeatability of marking even at high production speed.
  • Reliability and stable operation of the label applicator
The use of two stepper motors makes it possible to maintain stable tension of the label liner, eliminating the risk of tearing or deformation.
  • Easy integration with the production line
A compact design and the option to choose a right-hand or left-hand version make it easy to fit the applicator into existing production infrastructure.
  • Versatile use (a device for labelling various products)
The SpeedMate Blade automatic labelling machine works well in many industrial applications – from marking cartons and outer packaging to labelling individual products.

HMI panel – intuitive operation of the label applicator on the production line

touchpanel

One of the elements that increases user comfort of the SpeedMate Blade applicator is the modern device control system. The operator has a 7-inch colour resistive HMI touchscreen panel, which enables convenient management of applicator operating parameters and monitoring its status. The panel has a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels and was designed for operation in an industrial environment – its housing is made of anodised aluminium and is resistant to liquid splashes.

The user interface is intuitive and based on clear icons. The system supports several user access levels, such as operator, supervisor or service, which enables secure management of device parameters and limits access to advanced configuration functions.

LinkMate – configuration and diagnostics of the label applicator (USB / Ethernet TCP/IP

LinkMate software IMA Labeling

Configuration and diagnostics of the applicator can also be carried out using LinkMate software. It is a computer tool developed by IMA Labeling that allows the device to be managed from a computer.

Communication with the applicator can take place via: a USB interface or an Ethernet network (TCP/IP).
This allows the user to remotely configure applicator operating parameters, manage digital inputs and outputs, analyse system events and perform device diagnostics. LinkMate software also offers four password-protected access levels, enabling secure management of device configuration and service.

In practice, this means that an integrator or maintenance department can easily:

  • change label application parameters,
  • monitor the operating status of the applicator,
  • update the device software,
  • carry out diagnostics and service without the need for direct intervention in the machine.

Etisoft integration support – implementation of the SpeedMate Blad label applicator

SpeedMate Blade from IMA Labeling is an economical yet efficient solution for automatic product labelling. Thanks to high application precision, a simple design and easy integration with production lines, the device is an excellent choice for companies that want to increase marking process efficiency without incurring high investment costs.

The availability of the applicator in Etisoft’s offer means that companies can implement proven labelling technology with full technical and integration support.

FAQ

What is wipe-on label application?

It’s a contact labeling method where the label is applied by “wiping/pressing” it onto a product moving on a conveyor—without stopping the product.

When should you choose a wipe-on label applicator instead of stop-and-go?

When you want higher line throughput, continuous product flow and easier integration—especially with consistent package sizes and stable product handling on the conveyor.

What labeling accuracy can you achieve with wipe-on?

Accuracy depends on the applicator, sensors, conveyor stability and label quality, but typical industrial systems can achieve around ±1 mm.

Which products and surfaces are best suited for wipe-on labeling?

It works best on products with relatively flat, stable surfaces (cartons, boxes, unit packs) and where the product doesn’t shift or wobble on the conveyor.

What conveyor/line requirements are important for reliable wipe-on labeling?

Key factors include constant conveyor speed and stable product tracking, consistent product spacing, proper product-detection sensors, and correctly set application parameters (timing, pressure, blade/roller position).
