The proposed foil labels display an extensive resistance to high temperatures, selected chemical substances and atmospheric effects. This property is important especially for products stored in adverse conditions. Furthermore, the labels have a good grip to various surfaces (metal, glass, plastics). Additional elements for the protection of chemical substances are sealing labels, which cannot be peeled off without visible traces of damage. These are used for securing bottles and containers with chemicals. When an attempt to remove the label is made, the label layers and its further re-application is impossible.

In the food processing industry, product marking is most often carried out with the use of self-adhesive paper labels. The label contains all the required information: product name, ingredients, net weight, manufacturing and expiry date, manufacturer’s name and address. Furthermore, products designated for supermarket sales have a barcode. The recommended solution for the marking of construction materials, such as bricks, hollow bricks, roof tiles or paving stones stored on pallets and kept outdoors are plastic tags resistant to atmospheric effects and destruction. Insulation materials (mineral wool, styrofoam, foils and membranes) are marked with a label applied directly onto the packaging, Finishing materials, fixing elements, fittings packed into polyethylene bags or boxes are marked with labels applied to unitary and collective packaging. Products made on request or of untypical dimensions (windows, doors, window sills, blinds) are marked with labels with the printed order number and customer name. When removed, these labels should not leave any trace of dirty glue on the surface. Labels with special removable glue are used for such purposes.

The marking of timber in lumber mills, lumber storages, product warehouses and wood elements requires special materials. Polyester tags with a thermal transfer print, attached to the wooden elements do not undergo any deterioration during the wood drying, impregnation and storage process. The marking of wooden and furniture board elements and wooden garden architecture is performed by means of small polyester labels fixed with a clip.

The recommended choice for the marking of ironware with a flat and finished surface, e.g. sheets, slabs and sections, are specialized self-adhesive labels. Foil labels are resistant to very high temperatures, moisture, UV radiation, dirt, dust and chemical agents. Products packed into bundles, such as rods, wires, pipes, reinforcing grates and meshes will be best suited by polyester tags, which - fixed with metal wire or tape - guarantee the product identification even after many years. Polyester tags are resistant to tearing, high temperatures, chemical agents, water and UV radiation. Both sides of the tag are prepared for thermal transfer print. A white homogenous surface guarantees a good contrast for barcode scanning.

The marking of clothing, knitted products and shoes is performed with the use of textile care labels, self-adhesive labels and hang tags. All the required information on care labels (washing instructions, fabrics used, clothing size) are printed in thermal transfer technology, assuring the high quality and durability of the printout and resistance to washing, ironing and detergents. Care labels (made of polyester nylon and satin) with printed washing instructions, the list of used fabrics and size are sewn into the clothing and other textiles. Textile labels (silk and self-adhesive nylon) are used for marking thick and hard fabrics. Textile labels are usually applied to carpets, linings, mats, mattresses, and inside shoes. Cardboard tags with the product name, manufacturer’s address and barcode are used for marking textiles in retail sales.

Storage of samples in low temperatures, including also cryogenic storage requires special labels. The markings must be specially selected, so that they maintain their flexibility and grip during freezing. At the moment, the most common and accessible method of sample registration and identification is the barcode label. The recommended selection for institutions conducting scientific research in the scope of medicine and biology are special self-adhesive labels designed for marking samples for deep freezing. The recommended self-adhesive labels:
- meet the requirements set by the cryogenic freezing process (liquid nitrogen, dry ice)
- guarantee resistance to temperatures ranging from -196°C to +90°C,
- are resistant to storage conditions and laboratory sterilization techniques, such as autoclave, gamma radiation, UV radiation, etc.
- are resistant to the effects of chemical agents, such as: Xylenol, Isopropyl, DMSO and 10% HCl.

A recommended choice for marking storage locations (shelves, racks) are labels resistant to temperature variations, dirt, damage, pressure and abrasive wear by mobile equipment (carts, lifts). For this purpose white matt labels, guaranteeing a large contrast for barcode scanning, or special Retro Reflective labels with an increased barcode scanning distance are recommended. Barcodes are printed on labels with the use of thermal transfer technology, guaranteeing the print durability and resistance and the appropriate barcode contrast. The application of barcode or RFID systems in warehouse management enables quick and easy product identification, and current stock and stock consumption control. They significantly cut the time necessary for making lists, stocktaking, product acceptance and release.
